"She wanted to especially express her love & gratitude to their nurse Woinee. She says Woinee is/was absolutely amazing, attentive, and genuinely & sincerely caring to not only her mom (patient), but to her (dtr) & her daughter (grndtr) as well.

She stated her mom lived with her & her dtr, so they've always been her caregivers, but after Woinee came into their lives & started helping them they were able to spend their last days with her mom more as a loving family unit, and not just as caregivers. She also appreciated Woinee checking in on them even after her mother's passing. She is forever grateful for that & just can't thank Woinee enough."

"Dear Essence hospice,

I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am for the wonderful support and compassion that I have received from your dynamic and responsive team in helping me and my mom journey through the last few moments of my sister, Sharon’s breast cancer journey.

It was Christmas Eve 2024; I was about to prepare myself to go to work when S’s (patient’s) City of Hope oncologist had a brief phone conversation with us about S’s deteriorating condition. It was the end of her cancer journey. I am also a nurse just like S is. I’m a night shift worker just like my sister. That night as I went to work it felt like it was the longest shift I’ve ever worked. I was praying for a miracle and at the same time I was also praying that the good Lord will help us get the help that we needed to help S get through these last moments of her life. A few days after, Ms. Sandra Williams reached out to me to set up hospice for S. I was so tired from work and coming home to take care of my elderly mom who has a heart problem and at the same time have to take care of my dying sister, S who was already bedridden and needed total physical care. I have then asked my boyfriend, to get in touch with the social worker from City of Hope and coordinate with the hospice team. A case manager had suggested Essence Hospice saying that they respond quicker than the other hospice team out there. I am an ICU nurse, and I don’t have much experience with hospice, but one thing is for sure the hospice team that the hospital that I worked at is not a very good one. For me the term hospice means pain and sadness. But Essence Hospice has changed that for me. Essence Hospice has added compassion and humanity to the pain and sadness that I have long associated with the term hospice.

My first contact with the hospice team was Ms. Sandra Williams. I can tell you right now that from the very first time that I have spoken to her I felt that the good Lord Almighty has already told me that He’s got this. Ms. Sandra is definitely a God send. God has indeed helped us through this very difficult last cancer journey of S through her. Ms. Sandra has emanated a powerful presence of God’s Holy Spirit at our most vulnerable and difficult time of our life. She has run the extra miles for us and has been nothing but benevolent and empathetic about what we’re going through. Ms. Sandra will always have a very special place in my family’s hearts. For all the good in her may God always, always, always bless her and keep her safe in His loving arms. Her dedication and commitment to giving her service, love and comfort at our most fragile, most vulnerable times of our life will etch her name into our hearts forever.

I also wanted to extend my gratitude to Ms Jacque. She’s the hospice nurse that came to our house and followed up on S. She has helped bring comfort and loving care to S during her final days. She’s very thoughtful and provided a selfless service to our family.

I have not personally met the attending physician but I know he must be a very good physician. I would like to thank him too for his wonderful service and support for S during her last moments of life. He provided care to S in a very timely manner even in signing her death certificate. This has really helped me and my mom to put S’s past to closure so that we can move on.

Essence Hospice you have an awesome team from Ms. Sandra Williams, Jacque Segui, The Doctor s and to all operators that we have spoken to thank you very much for all the wonderful support and compassionate care that you have given to S and her family in this heartbreaking time of our lives. I believe in the saying “what goes around comes around. “. Your company had sown good seeds of love and compassion. I know that your company will yield all the great blessings of the Good Lord Almighty."

"Mrs. S is transferring to another hospice in Riverside effective today, 1/9/25. This move was planned by the family due to increased care needs and the decision to relocate to her son's home in Riverside.

The patient’s daughter-in-law Anna had nothing but wonderful things to say about Essence. She said we have a wonderful team and was disappointed to learn she couldn't keep us at the new address. Elvia you were amazing with her mother-in-law, she also thanked Marlen for being so kind and helpful with everything."

"Just a quick note to thank Essence and its employees for the great care my mom, P, had with you since last February. She died October 26th. I can’t imagine better care than what she was provided.

Nurse Woinee was just the best, so kind and considerate and she was great at following through with necessary medicines and treatments. I met her several times and loved her professionalism and caring. She was also just on top of responding to my concerns and e-mails at any time, usually within minutes. Day or night. And my mom loved her.

Sherrie is also a great asset. We talked many times about my concerns with treatment and other things. She was instrumental in guiding me and my mom both through a difficult situation which occurred at the board and care home, which had a lot to do with my mom not understanding the different cultural aspects of her roommate. Sherrie was also available to me whenever I called. I felt so taken care of by Essence in this last phase. I appreciate also the offer of bereavement counseling.

I don’t know the name of the person who came to bathe Mom twice a week for months, but it was the highlight of her week sometimes. This woman was so gentle and caring and after the full bath and changing of the sheets, she would kiss my mom on the forehead just to make sure she still “smelled good”! It was a special touch my mom truly appreciated.

Also, the “on boarding” process could not have gone better. All my questions were answered.

Again, my sincere thanks for helping us through this difficult time. I’m not sure of the name of her primary doctor who recommended Essence, and if you would provide his contact info I would be happy to tell him the experience we had.

Also, if there are other families who are going through this and you think I could help, I’d be glad to speak with them. It’s a difficult time at best, and I can say that Essence made it the easiest experience it could be." Many thanks, k

Great Experience

During IDG today our CM Samantha mentioned the The board and care where Mr. B is at is very pleased with us. They appreciated you stopping by to check in and bring donuts and they said they are interested in meeting to have Essence take on more of their patients at other homes! They have had a great experience with our staff and vendors including Xpress pharmacy, health essentials DME and supplies. They said none of their other hospices are as responsive and call to check in like we have."
